(originally posted on my photography blog http://www.tbphotographyanddesign.com/, but thought maybe someone might like to hear this here too ;))
a few thoughts for this morning...
I am a bad blogger lol! I am here on and off, when I can…now I usually have an excuse – I have various health problems including degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, etc…but…
Hope this is making sense right now I have a mild fever that is really enough to make me miserable feeling…I came across some information on the net, and loved it. I wanted to share it with you, plus some that I added. Sharing this information with someone who may also be a beginning photographer is something I feel is important. When I first started doing photography and graphic design, I was soo excited! I mean I knew I could take a pretty good photograph and wasn’t bad doing invitations, announcements and such. But got hit pretty hard with negativity. Now I’m not sure why it was done / said to me, but after “hit in the gut” feeling was over, I decided no one and I mean NO ONE is gonna stop me from doing what I love to do. Don’t care if I have 2 facebook fans or 1000. Don’t care what happens, I will never give up this business. Now, as I was saying before, I came across this and wanted to share it with you all. Can’t remember what website I got this from, but if I recall, it was a well known family photographers site, the important thing is that I only added to it, didn’t write the original thoughts ;) As soon as I find the site again, I’m gonna put it here on this post, cuz you would love her site (and because I wanna thank her from the bottom of my heart)! She really hit the nail on the head here:
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Mary Oliver Today I want to tell you something important.
Something vital. Something that needs to be said.
You are amazing. You…
You are outstanding. You…
You can rock the world.
Be strong and believe.
There will always be people that say you can’t.
Don’t think my pictures aren’t as good as Miz Booshay’s.
Or Sarah Robertson’s or the neighbor next door.
Don’t think my camera isn’t as cool as Ashton Kutcher’s
Or Susan Keller’s or the Mom at the park.
Think I am wonderful.
I am learning.
I am good at what I do.
Because you are.
You are wonderful.
And beautiful.
Enjoy this day.
Now I printed out a copy of this and keep it on my wall, so it’s the first thing I see when I get up in the morning (well, after my hubby’s face J). If photography (or whatever your passion is) is what you want to do…if you get up in the morning and go to bed at night thinking about it..i say GO FOR IT! Don’t listen to that negativity that people throw out there at you! Getting constructive criticism is one thing but you know when someone is out to get you when all they do is throw negative emotional roadblocks in your way…It doesn’t matter if you go to school for it or not…I plan on doing so, but you CAN be good at this line of work either way. It DOESN’T matter. Enjoy what you are doing and keep doing it. Period. That’s all that matters. Getting help with it is great, just don’t ever EVER give up! Whew, like I said hope all that makes sense. Now off for a nice warm cup of tea and some tylenol!
I’ll be posting s’more later this evening ;)
